The Canada Border Services Agency announced the seizure of thousands of litres of chemicals used to produce fentanyl and GHB from two containers shipped from China to Calgary. The containers, intercepted in May at the Tsawwassen Container Examination Facility (TCEF), contained 3,600 litres of 1,4-Butanediol and 500 litres of Propionyl Chloride. The CBSA said the containers were flagged through intelligence coordination between regional and national targeting units. The agency is working with the RCMP on the ongoing investigation to curb the smuggling of illicit drug precursors into Canada.
