The Swedish carrier has placed orders for another three so-called IMOIIMAX MR product tanker vessels of 50,000 dwt each, with options for two more. The order has a combined value of USD 200 million, and delivery of the first ship from the Chinese CSSC yard in Guangzhou is scheduled for late 2017, informs Stena Bulk in a press release.
New analysis casts doubts on tanker recovery
The newbuildings are of the same type as the ten vessels Stena Bulk ordered in 2012 from the same yard, of which the first four were delivered earlier this year. Stena Bulk and Stena Weco each own one of these ten newbuildings, listed sister carrier Concordia Maritime owns two, while the remaining six are owned by Asian palm oil company Golden Agri Resources.
Stena Bulk currently operates a fleet of 60 vessels.
Concordia Maritime also announced in a statement on Tuesday that the carrier, together with Stena Weco, has chartered an /3 MR vessel.
