Terminal Puerto Coquimbo (TPC) simultaneously attended to two vessels dedicated to project cargo transport, the Hosei Liberty and the BBC Rhonetal, which moored at sites No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.
The Hosei Liberty, registered under the flag of Panama and 13 years old, arrived at the Port of Coquimbo with 22 technological modules. Meanwhile, the BBC Rhonetal, in service for 12 years and sailing under the flag of Antigua and Barbuda, unloaded implements for mining equipment.
“Both shipments demand high-standard logistics given the dimensions, weight, and special characteristics of the cargo. The operation, which involved the simultaneous call of the two vessels, required precise coordination between the different TPC teams, ensuring compliance with strict safety protocols,” communicated TPC.
“This type of maneuver demands detailed resource planning and reflects the Terminal’s capacity to handle large-scale cargo. Likewise, the process considered the use of backup areas and the provision of escorts for the dispatch of the cargo, guaranteeing efficiency and continuity in the transfer of specialized merchandise,” it added.
For her part, Laura Chiuminatto, general manager of TPC, stated that “the arrival of the Hosei Liberty and the BBC Rhonetal demonstrates the confidence that the different actors of international trade have in our Terminal, as well as our capacity to execute highly complex operations. This type of cargo requires detailed planning, specialized maneuvers, and close coordination with various logistical actors and technical teams, which allows us to guarantee a safe and efficient service.”
With this, TPC has received during 2025 five project cargo vessels, which would reaffirm “its status as a multipurpose port, prepared to safely and efficiently handle different types of cargo, from containers and cruise ships to large-scale projects, reflecting its versatility to position itself as the logistical solution for the diverse needs of the region and international trade,” as was emphasized by the concessionaire.
