On October 12, a China-Europe freight train fully loaded with goods departed via the Alashankou Port for Poland, marking a milestone where the cumulative number of China-Europe (Central Asia) freight trains passing through Xinjiang’s Alashankou and Horgos dual railway ports has exceeded 100,000.
This year, the customs authorities at Alashankou and Horgos in Xinjiang have leveraged big data and IoT technology to build a visual supervision system. By deepening the reform of “Smart Railway Port + Rapid Local Customs Clearance,” the transit time for China-Europe freight train cargo has been reduced from 2-3 days to within 16 hours. On average, the reloading of a return train is completed in 2 hours, with over 27 inbound and outbound China-Europe freight trains passing through daily.
As of now, the number of China-Europe freight train routes passing through Alashankou and Horgos ports has reached 127 and 89 respectively. Domestically, they connect to 26 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the central government. Internationally, they link 21 Asian and European countries, including Germany and Hungary. The types of goods transported have expanded from the initial electronic products like computers and mobile phones to over 200 categories, including new energy vehicles, industrial machinery, grain and oil, and alcoholic beverages.
