At noon on August 2nd, the sixth 50,000 DWT MR-type product tanker “NARRATOR,” built by Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group’s New Yangzi Shipbuilding for shipowner Evalend, was delivered and departed the shipyard to commence operations.
The vessel commenced construction in early August 2024, was placed on the berth for assembly in mid-February 2025, launched in late April, and completed sea trials in early July, with all test results meeting design standards. As the final ship in the series of six, it is classed by Lloyd’s Register (LR).
On July 29th, under the joint witness of representatives from the shipowner, shipyard, and inspection parties, Mr. Evangelos Simos, representing Evalend, and Mr. Du Chengzhong, Deputy General Manager of Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group and General Manager of New Yangzi Shipbuilding, signed the delivery documents for the “NARRATOR.”
It is understood that the series of six 50,000 DWT MR-type tankers have an overall length of 183.0 meters, a length between perpendiculars of 174.5 meters, a molded breadth of 32.2 meters, a molded depth of 19.1 meters, a design draft of 11.0 meters, and a scantling draft of 13.3 meters. Equipped with open-loop U-type scrubbers, their EEDI meets Phase III standards. This achievement marks another significant milestone for Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group in the tanker construction sector. The vessel features advanced energy-saving and environmentally friendly designs, strictly complying with the latest international emission and energy efficiency standards. Its successful construction further strengthens the company’s core competitiveness in the tanker market segment.
