The Procuraduría General de la Nación reported the seizure of 300 packages of drugs in a port on the Panamanian Pacific, without giving further details about its location.
The narcotic was inside a container that originated in the United States, with a transshipment in Panama and whose final destination was Australia.
“A container with 300 packages of alleged drugs was located in a port on the Panamanian Pacific, through a search and inspection procedure led by the Fiscalía de Drogas of Panama with the support of the Policía Nacional,” the PGN reported.
The discovery was made during inspection work inside the port facility. An investigation process will be carried out to determine those responsible and the routes used by the criminals involved in the case.
“These actions are part of the objectives of the Plan Firmeza in the fight against organized crime and drug trafficking, reaffirming the commitment to guarantee the security and well-being of the population,” the Policía de Panamá reported.
In another case, the Servicio Nacional Aeronaval de Panamá reported that “under the Plan Firmeza and in coordination with the Procuraduría General de la Nación, our Aeronaval units confirm the seizure of 350 packages of an alleged illicit substance hidden in a container within the Terminal Portuaria del Pacífico, in Panamá Oeste.”
For its part, the PGN also reported on the seizure of 330 packages of drugs from a container that was on board a ship. The illicit substance was seized after being verified by the Fiscalía de Drogas with the support of aeronaval officials.
The three mentioned cases took place in the last 72 hours, according to official sources.
