Project logistics specialist, 7WL Worldwide Logistics has recently completed a move of a 69-ton trafo from Eltmann in Germany to Piraeus Port, Greece. The company’s unit 7WL Bremen was also tasked with arranging the mobile crane for lifting the trafo ex storage site onto truck.
The timeline of this transport was under special pressure as the trafo was urgently needed in Greece for support of existing equipment during summer and holiday season. The process for permit application was therefore under daily revision by 7WL.
The company had three days to load the cargo onto a truck, reach the port of Antwerp and lift the cargo onto the target vessel, the Grand Ellade. Grimaldi Line’s RoRo vessel was already under full loading operations when the cargo arrived at the port of loading, however, the tight schedule meant that some additional arrangements needed to be made for the unit to be loaded safe and sound on board the vessel, day before the national holiday.
7WL noted that the operation was completed with the cooperation of Grimaldi Lines and Felbermayr that was involved during pre-carriage and crane operations.
