Norwegian Cruise Line postpones Norwegian Viva Launch

Must read

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has announced the cancellation of Norwegian Viva‘s first two scheduled voyages. The ship is now scheduled to debut in July 2023,rather than June 2023.

NCL told guests in a letter that “we regretfully inform you that. as a result of the global supply chain constraints impacting industries worldwide and the related downstream construction delays at the shipyard building our next class of ships, Norwegian Viva’s June 15th 2023 and June 24th 2023 sailings have been cancelled.”

One factor appears to be a shortage of steel.

The vessel’s sibling ship Norwegian Prima (IMO 9823986), the first in the line’s all new
Prima Class, was also delayed by supply chain issues, which forced the line to cancel its first scheduled sailing on August 17th.

2022-built, Italy-flagged, 142,500 gt Norwegian Prima is owned by Leonardo One Ltd care of manager NCL Bahamas Ltd of Miami, Florida, USA. As of June 21st it was at the port of Trieste in the Adriatic Sea.
