Cadeler signs firm contract to install Moray West turbines
The 14-MW turbines for Moray West will be installed by Cadeler's Wind Orca

Cadeler has signed a firm contract with Siemens Gamesa to transport and install 60 offshore wind turbines for the Moray West offshore windfarm

The company will install Siemens Gamesa SG 14-222 DD offshore wind turbines for the project off the coast of Scotland.

This will be the first time that the 14-MW offshore wind turbines will be installed on a commercial-scale project.

The project will be executed by Cadeler’s windfarm installation vesselWind Orca.

Installation is set to start at the beginning of 2024, shortly after the vessel has undergone a crane upgrade.

Once the upgrade has been completed, the main crane on the vessel will have a lifting capacity of 1,600 tonnes at a radius of 40 m and a hook height of 160 m above main deck.

Moray West is in the outer Moray Firth, 22 km off the coast of Scotland. The Port of Nigg in the Cromarty Firth, Scotland, has been selected as the pre-assembly site for the turbines.
