Fire erupted during the night of June 23rd in the cargo hold of bulk carrier Lowlands Mimosa (IMO 9802255) while it was loading scrap at the Sifferdok in Oostakker, Ghent,
Belgium. Fire engines and teams were deployed. No injuries reported but the extent of damage was unknown, as the fire-fighting seemed to have continued for some time, with a tug being brought in to supply water from the other side. The Lowlands Mimosa docked at Ghent on June 18th and apparently started loading scrap after shifting berths on June 22nd.
2018-built, Panama-flagged, 35,596 gt Lowlands Mimosa is owned by Wailea Line Inc / FJ Shipping Co care of manager Fukujin Kisen Co Ltd of Imabari, Japan. It is entered with Japan Club (Imabari Office In charge on behalf of Wailea Line Inc. As of June 25th it was moored in Ghent, Belgium.
During repairs to /oil products tanker Gulf Petroleum 4 (IMO 9439345) in Tuzla, Turkey, there was a technical failure of its carbon dioxide system, with gas leaking from pertinent connections, on May 6th. Four workers had to be taken to hospital. A detailed technical inspection was carried out by the class and state surveyors. Subsequently, renewal and repair works have been commenced to the entire carbon dioxide system as per a class-approved fire plan. Upon completion of the repairs, a leak test will be applied to all piping
arrangements along with further connections. A new set of firefighting certificates will be issued by the classification society and the flag state authority as per the test results. A new set of piping arrangements will be provided by the owners. The ship remained stationary in Tuzla as of June 24th.
2009-built, Liberia-flagged, 8,539 gt Gulf Petroleum 4 is owned by AA Marine Inc care of manager Gulf Shipping Services FZC of Ajman, UAE. As of June 25th the vessel was listed as Not Under Command off Tuzla, Turkey.
Refrigerated cargo ship Green Bodo (IMO 8804555) suffered a fire in a cargo hold stowed
with frozen fish while the vessel was at berth at Ijmuiden on June 15th, reports WK Webster. It was reported that the cargo of frozen fish stowed to the hold was discharged from the hold to assist the firefighting operation and the fire was reported to have been extinguished with the assistance of the local fire brigade.
1990-built, Bahamas-flagged, 5,084 gt Green Bodo is owned by Green Shipping AS care of Green Management Sp z oo of Gdynia, Poland. As of June 24th the vessel was en route from IJmuiden, Netherlands to Las Palmas, Canary Islands, Spain, ETA June 26th.
Lighthouse vessel Ann Harvey (IMO 8320468) suffered a fire off Fogo, Newfoundland and Labrador on Jun 18th, with 32 crew members on board. No damage or injuries were reported due to the incident, and the ship continued its patrol in the Labrador Sea.
1987-built, Canada-flagged, 3,854 gt Ann Harvey is owned and managed by the Canada Govt Coast Guard of Ottawa, Canada. As of June 24th the vessel was underway off St Johns, Newfoundland, Canada.
