Firefighters responded to fire in the cargo hold of bulk carrier Amber Star (IMO 9801160) late on June 26th local time when it was docked at Fernandino Port, Florida. A fire broke
out in hold number five while a cargo of plywood was being offloaded at port. The fire was extinguished by 06:00 local time the following morning. The extent of damages and the cargo loss is not yet known.

2017-built, Panama-flagged, 23,277 gt Amber Star is owned by Hanamizuki Panama SA care of Diamond Bulk Carriers Pte Ltd of Singapore. It is managed by TMA Bulk GmbH of Hamburg, Germany. ISM manager is Fleet Ship management Pte Ltd of Singapore. It is entered with Japan Club (Singapore office in charge) on behalf of Hanamizuki (Panama) SA. As of June 28th the vessel was moored at Fernandia, north of Jacksonville, Florida, USA.

A heavy machinery vehicle, possibly a mobile crane or excavator, fell onto the deck of bulk carrier HG Perth (IMO 9497505) during offloading on Jun 26th while the vessel was at Terminal Two, Valparaiso, Chile. Nobody was reported as injured, but the ship’s cargo deck and vehicle sustained damages. The ship had arrived on June 25th from China, via Salvador.

2011-built, Liberia-flagged, 18,722 gt HG Perth is owned by Capricorn Shipping Co Ltd care of manager G Perth Shipping Ltd of Shanghai, China. ISM manager is Shanghai Zhendong Shipping Co of Shanghai, China. It is entered with West of England on behalf of Capricorn Shipping Co Ltd. As of June 28th the vessel was moored at Valparaiso, Chile.

Superyacht Madame Gu (IMO 1011331), reportedly beneficially owned by sanctioned Russian individual Andrei Skoch, has anchored in Duba. The vessel docked at Port Rashid on Friday. Skoch, sanctioned by the US since 1028, was sanctioned by the UK and EU after
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The Madame Gu has been anchored in the Dubai port since March 6th, having arrived in the UAE last November, several months before Ukraine was invaded. Skoch is also a member of the State Duma and part owner of the steelmaker Lebedinsky Minin. Forbes Magazine estimates his net worth at $6.8bn.

2013-built, Cayman Islands-flagged, 2,991 gt Madam Gu is listed as owned by Almano Holding Ltd care of Watermark Yacht Management of Monte Carlo, Monaco. No AIS since March 3rd, when it was underway off Dubai.
