German company TGE Marine Gas Engineering says that it has been awarded a contract by Dalian Shipbuilding (DSIC) to deliver the gas handling systems for two new liquid CO2 (LCO2) carriers. The carriers have been ordered in connection with the Northern Lights CO2 Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) facility in the North Sea.
The systems will be installed on two LCO2 carriers which are being built at DSIC in China for the Rostock-based Carnival company. According to TGE, the ships are scheduled to enter service in 2024. The scope of TGE Marine’s engineering, procurement, construction and supervision (EPCS)contract covers the complete CO2 Gas Handling System as well as commissioning activities. The vessels will each have a capacity of 7,500 cbm of liquid CO2.
TGE Marine’s Sales Manager Johannes Dziuba commented “We are both pleased and honoured to be working on these first-in-their-class ships and look forward to successfully delivering the best end result for the client to see these ships in operation”,
