AtoB@C Shipping, a Swedish subsidiary of Aspo Group’s ESL Shipping, has declared an option for an additional vessel from Indian shipyard Chowgule & Company Private Ltd
AtoB@C previously ordered six identical electric hybrid vessels from the company back in September 2021. The first two of the new generation of energy-efficient hybrid-electric vessels are already under construction.
The hull assembly of the first 90-m, 5,350-dwt 1A ice-class began in early May, with delivery scheduled for Q3 2023.
The company’s business unit director Frida Rowland said, “With this order we are able to offer our customers more environmentally friendly transport and respond to growing demand. This order will also secure us eco-friendly and modern capacity in the coming years.”
In connection with the forthcoming series of new-generation electric hybrid vessels and additional vessel options, ESL Shipping said it is preparing to start a long-term pooling partnership together with institutional and private investors. AtoB@C’s fleet comprises more than 30 vessels.
