Finland-based Elomatic Oy has established a subsidiary in Wismar, Germany, focusing on ship design and offshore wind power structures.

The new subsidiary, called Elomatic Maritime Technologies, will take on challenging work in the area of ship design and offshore structures. Elomatic Maritime Technologies will initially employ about 30 experienced marine industry professionals originating from the German Baltic Sea shipyards cluster, following the pandemic-forced closure of MV Werften.

Elomatic gained direct experience working with MV Werften’s technical team during the construction of Genting’s Global Class mega passenger ship.

With its establishment, Elomatic will significantly strengthen its concept and basic design expertise.

“I am really happy to welcome a group of true shipbuilding professionals to our team. Their experience with offshore wind power ships and infrastructures, green technologies, Arctic ships, governmental vessels and cruise ships strengthens every area where Elomatic wants to be number one in the world,” says Rami Hirsimäki, Senior Vice President of Elomatic.

“Elomatic provides a good foundation for building a ship design unit in Germany. We bring strong expertise to both to the German and Elomatic’s traditional markets,” says Guido Schulte, CEO of the established company.
