Gujarat will get one more full-fledged port in Jamnagar named the Bedi Port under the central government’s Gati Shakti Master Plan. It will be situated on the southern flank of Gulf of Kutch according to media reports.

The port will offer Multi Modal connectivity to over one thousand industrial clusters
operating in Saurashtra.

Bedi port is capable of handling about fifteen lakh tons of imported coal to feed the thermal plants in Gujarat and 12 lakh tons of bulk cargo. An exclusive railway to link the port is under construction under the Public Private Partnership mode. The upgrade facilities will help to reduce cargo congestion at the nearby Mundra and Kandla ports both leaders of port industry in the country in the private and public sector respectively.

The Bedi port has also become the second in Saurashtra region to get rail connectivity.

With this addition Gujarat state will have the distinction of having largest number of big ports having the highest turn-over in the country.
