Floatel International has won a contract for one of its accommodation support units operating in northwest Australia on a major offshore maintenance project
The Oslo-listed company secured the contract from Woodside Burrup for its 2016-built semi-submersible accommodation and construction support vessel Floatel Triumph. Classed by ABS, the dynamic positioning DP3 unit will provide services at the Pluto offshore project for at least three months, starting 1 April 2023, with extension options to the contract.
Floatel Triumph was built by Keppel FELS Shipyard, Singapore, to operate in the harshest environmental conditions. It has accommodation for 500 people in one and two-bed cabins, two deck cranes, a telescopic gangway, helideck, a large lay-down area, workshops and warehouses to support offshore maintenance projects.
Ålesund, Norway-headquartered Golden Energy Offshore Services gained an extension contract for its platform supply vessel Energy Swan from Repsol Norge. This six-month extension is in direct continuation of the current charter contract from 2021 and will keep Energy Swan in employment to May 2023.
“The charter rate reflects the market conditions,” said Golden Energy. “The parties have further agreed that charterers continue to have options available to charter the vessel as per the original charter.”
Golden Energy said Energy Swan has 100% utilisation this year and its fleet has 99% utilisation at attractive rates throughout Q3 2022.
Also in September, Havila Shipping said it is selling multipurpose support vessel Havila Phoenix after receiving an attractive offer. Built 2009, the vessel will be sold when it has completed an existing contract, expected at the end of Q4 2022.
Afterwards, Havila Shipping will continue as manager for the ship. It said the transaction “is expected to have limited impact on the income and liquidity position.”
Also in Australia, seismic survey company TGS is planning to commence the Capreolus Phase 2 3D seismic survey in the Carnarvon Basin. This 4,500-km2 multi-client survey on the Australian North West Shelf will cover the Dorado and Pavo oil discoveries. It is expected to begin December 2022 and finish March 2023.
