Passenger ship Burrard Pacific Breeze (IMO
9585003) suffered a fire in the engine room late on September 26th while
it was berthed at a terminal in the harbour of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
There were four crew members on board at the time. As of October 5th the vessel was moored at Vancouver Port.
2009-built, Canada-flagged, 438 gt Burrard Pacific Breeze
is owned by South Coast BC Transportation care of manager Coast Mountain Bus Co
of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. It is entered with Shipowners’ Club on
behalf of South Coast British Columbia Transportation Authority
Dredger Baltiskaya (IMO 7020437) sank in
Makhachkala Port, Dagestan, Caspian Sea, Russia, in stormy weather on October 2nd.
The dredger had been deployed in dredging works in Makhachkala for at least eight
months. All crew were reported as safe.
1970-built, Russia-flagged, 1,508 gt Baltiskaya is owned
and managed by Gidrotrans LLC of Strakhan, Russia. No AIS since November 2021.
Another crew member of Cosco bulk carrier Wu Zhou 8 (IMO
9662760) has died in hospital, bringing to 13 the total number of deaths from suspected
food poisoning, out of 21 crew in total. All the crew –13 bodies and eight
survivors, had been brought to Vung Tau, Vietnam. The status of the ship was
unclear. AIS was off.
Authorities in the island district of Con Dao deployed
helicopters to bring the victims and nine other sailors to a hospital onshore
after receiving distress calls from the ship’s captain on September 30th.

by Chaozhou Xingwang Shipping Co of Raoping Xian, Guangdong, China. It is
managed by Cosco Shipping Seafarer Mgmt of Shanghai, China. ISM manager is
Fuyingtong Guangzhou Shipping of Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. It is entered
with London Club on behalf of Chaozhou Xingwang Shipping Co Ltd.
