Ship traffic affected by new Covid outbreak in Ningbo

Must read

A sequence of lockdowns at Ningbo, the world’s largest port, has impacted vessel traffic, although Chinese authorities are insisting that volumes are normal.

An outbreak of Covid-19 was first detected in Ningbo on Thursday October 13th. The district of Daxie went into lockdown over the weekend, but by Monday this week the outbreak had spread to Beilun, an area that houses the largest number of terminals at the Port,

Ningbo-Zhoushan is the world’s largest port in overall tonnage terms and third-largest for containers.

Trucking green channels and “closed-loop” management were installed at the port, but delays were soon being reported, with a significant drop in available truck drivers.

Chinese leader Xi Jinping reaffirmed late last week that China’s zero-covid policy would continue.
