Port Esbjerg in Denmark is constructing a new warehouse facility for the offshore wind industry and has signed a lease agreement with wind turbine OEM Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy
Port of Esberg chairman Søren Gade said, “It is crucial for activity at Port Esbjerg that the right facilities are available.
“Construction of the warehouse reflects the fact that demand for facilities for offshore wind projects is increasing and the components are getting larger and larger.”
The 6,200-m2 facility will have a height of 35 m and will be able to accommodate port-related assembly activity. It has been designed specifically for activity in the offshore wind industry. Siemens Gamesa will be the first tenant.
Siemens Gamesa chief executive Torben Bang said, “We are delighted to extend our long-standing co-operation with Port Esbjerg with this lease agreement.
“Port Esbjerg is an important hub for offshore wind and, with this new facility, we’ll be even better equipped for the future.”
Construction of the new facility is due to be completed by the end of 2023.
