SOV keel laying ceremony

Must read

Two new service operation vessels destined for wind farms in China have had their keel laying ceremony at the ZPMC shipyard.

Ordered by Shanghai Electric, the Ulstein SX195 and SX197 are the first purpose-made SOVs designed for the Chinese offshore wind industry. Delivery is scheduled for the end of 2023 and early 2024 respectively.

Accommodating 60 and 100 crew respectively, both designs feature Ulstein’s proprietary X-BOW and X-STERN features. Both vessels focus on optimised operational capacity, capability and efficiency. With batteries installed, the vessels will provide a low emission footprint when servicing the renewable energy segment.

The two vessels had their steel cutting on 15 September 2022.
