Report with video:

Most of the passengers on cruise ship AIDAperla (IMO 9636967) could not go ashore in the port of Roseau on the Caribbean island
of Dominica due to strong winds and high waves. The weather meant that safe disembarkation
via the cruise ship’s gangway was impossible. The landing was initially
approved at around 08:00 local time on December 18th, but was cancelled
half an hour later because of “serious safety concerns”. Some 100 individual passengers
were already ashore. The captain then ensured that the shore excursions were
returned to the ship as quickly as possible. The guests who were individually
ashore were also contacted to come back to the ship. At 11:15 the AIDAperla
left Roseau prematurely and set course for the next port of Pointe-a-Pitre on
the island of Guadeloupe. The local agency of AIDA Cruises waited for the
guests who were not on board until the departure. They were taken by ferry from
the island of Dominica to Guadeloupe. The AIDAperla moored in Guadeloupe at 16:00
on December 18th – considerably earlier than scheduled. It remained
there until 18:00 on December 19th, when it resumed its schedule.

By December 21st the vessel was underway from
St Johns, Antigua & Barbuda, to Lomana, Dominican Republic, ETA December 22nd.

2017-built, Italy-flagged, 125,572 gt AIDAperla is owned
by Costa Crociere SpA of Genoa, Italy. It is managed by Aida Cruises of
Rostock, Germany. ISM manager is Carnival Maritime of Hamburg, Germany. It is
