MSC takes the rein from Maersk as most reliable carrier, thereby surpassing the Danish competitor in yet another area.

The world’s biggest liner company can now also to be styled as the world’s most reliable.

During November, Swiss-Italian MSC passed Danish competitor Maersk when it comes to punctuality, shows monthly report from Sea-Intelligence.

MSC reached an on-time arrival percentage of 63.4 in November 2022, performing slightly better than Maersk, having otherwise topped the list for long. The Danish carrier had a schedule reliability of 61.2 percent.

The report follows a line of areas in which MSC, spearheaded by Danish international Søren Toft, surpasses Maersk.

At this year’s onset, MSC usurped the throne as the world’s largest container carrier following a major secondhand shopping spree. It is part of the story, however, that Maersk no longer have any ambitions to be the biggest.

Schedule reliability has been somewhat of an Achilles’ heel for carriers, and during the logistic chaos of the pandemic, things went south to wide dismay among company clients.

However, port congestion is resolving parallel to demand taking a precipitous fall due to an energy crisis, towering inflation and surging interest rates, making it easier for carriers to call at port on time.

Global schedule reliability continued its upward trend reaching 56.6 percent, which is a 4.7-percent improvement from October 2022.

Sea-Intelligence notes that MSC and Maersk, who share capacity through the 2M alliance, are the only two carriers over 60 percent.
