Combined port and terminal operating system for Port of Borg

Must read

The Port of Borg in Fredrikstad, Norway, has agreed a deal to implement a combined port and terminal operating system (TOS) from Grieg Connect (part of the Grieg Group), with the aim of simplifying workflows to ensure efficient port calls, gate handling and container moves.

Port of Borg is the second largest port in the Oslo Fjords and Norway’s largest mixed cargo terminal. With operations in Fredrikstad, Sarpsborg and Hvaler, Borg Havn handled more than 67,000 TEU and 2.2 million tonnes of goods in 2021.

“The modules from Grieg Connect are a good choice for us. Together, they form a whole that streamlines our handling of port calls, gate flows and the daily operation of the container terminal,” said Kenneth Mathisen, Terminal Manager, Port of Borg.

“Connect also has an industrial, long-term owner, which means predictability for us. A system that fits together means increased competitiveness for our port and terminal operations.”

The agreed delivery includes a container terminal system with a gate module named Terminal, a port security and ISPS system, Security, and a port management information system called Port. For access control and camera functionality, Neowit will deliver a cloud-based service integrated with Grieg’s modules.

“Port of Borg is building a modern, digital foundation for its customers and co-operation partners, which will only become more important in order to be attractive in the future,” said Dan Steinnes, Head of Sales, Grieg Connect.

“By choosing a complete system from container operations to gate and port calls, they will experience a better flow of information and a common situational picture. This will provide a good basis for decision-making.”
