Boluda Towage, Marsa Maroc consortium wins port towage licence

One of the world’s largest owners of tugboats will work with local partners to provide ship handling and towage at a new port being built in northern Africa for cargo transhipment

Boluda Towage and Marsa Maroc Towage will provide shiphandling and docking services at the Nador West Med terminal, which is being built on the Mediterranean coast of Morocco.

This consortium will create a joint subsidiary to manage the towage licence, staff and vessels.

Four newbuild harbour tugs, with a towing capacity of 80 tonnes, will be contructed for €45.0M (US$49.3M), with delivery expected in 2026.

Boluda Towage France, with a stake of 51% in the consortium, and Marsa Maroc (49%), have obtained authorisation to carry out towage and assistance activities in the port of Nador West Med for 20 years, starting in Q4 2026.
