Two injured after vessel collides with offshore wind turbine

Must read

The Royal Netherlands Sea Rescue Institution (KNRM) says two crew were injured on 21 April 2025 when a vessel operated by Glomar Offshore hit an offshore wind turbine

The KNRM says it received a call for a medical evacuation from the vessel Glomar Venture, an emergency response and rescue vessel, at around 7.00am on 21 April 2025.

The lifeboat Irene & Henk was despatched to provide assistance, along with another rescue vessel, Koen Oberman.

The condition of the crew members was assessed and the injured men were prepared for evacuation. They were evacuated to a third vessel, Joke Dijkstra, which transported them to Den Helder where an ambulance was waiting.

Glomar Venture was escorted to Den Helder by Irene & Henk and Koen Oberman, together with the Coast Guard vessel Guardian.

The cause of the accident is being investigated. It is not known how seriously the vessel was damaged but it reportedly made its way to Den Helder under its own power.

The extent of the damage to the wind turbine is not known and the KNRM did not identify the windfarm where the incident took place.
