On July 8, reporters learned from the Xiamen Port Authority that from January to June this year, the Xiamen-Kinmen “mini three links” passenger route operated 4,236 voyages, transporting 814,200 passengers, a year-on-year increase of 46.28%. Among them, 194,400 were mainland Chinese passengers, 600,000 were Taiwanese passengers, and 19,800 were from Hong Kong, Macau, or foreign countries. The Xiamen-Kinmen route accounts for approximately 90% of Fujian Province’s “mini three links” passenger traffic, serving as a golden channel for Taiwanese compatriots and businesses to access the mainland.
In the first half of 2025, the Xiamen-Kinmen “mini three links” passenger route will actively explore new pathways for cross-strait integration and development, fulfilling its historical mission of building a demonstration zone for cross-strait integration. It will adhere to the goals of “high-end vessels, bus-like flight frequency, convenient port facilities, intelligent customs clearance, humanized services, and green routes,” striving to create a “joint construction, management, sharing, and integration” model across the strait. With strong support from the Xiamen Municipal Taiwan Affairs Office and various port inspection departments, the Xiamen Port Authority has strengthened communication with Kinmen and Taiwanese maritime authorities, guiding shipping companies and terminal operators on both sides to deepen exchanges and integration.
To ensure the Xiamen-Kinmen route can handle larger passenger flows, the Xiamen Port Authority reached an agreement with Taiwanese (Kinmen) maritime authorities to adjust the number of flights starting January 14. Daily voyages increased from 20 to 24, providing 7,200 passenger seats per day to ensure sufficient capacity. Meanwhile, Wutong Terminal has been upgraded with high-quality port facilities and convenient sea-air intermodal services, contributing “Fujian experience” to cross-strait connectivity. The authority also standardized cross-strait fee structures for passenger convenience, synchronized document verification status between platforms and terminal systems in real time, and aligned online waitlist deadlines, further reducing information discrepancies and improving terminal efficiency.
