It was announced that July 11, 2025, marks the 21st “China Maritime Day,” with this year’s theme being “Green Shipping, Forging Ahead with Innovation.” The event will feature over 20 diverse activities, including forums, seminars, and science and culture programs, highlighting five key aspects.
Emphasizing professional perspectives and cutting-edge exploration. On the morning of July 11, the 2025 China Maritime Day Main Forum and the National Maritime Day launch ceremony will take place in Boao. A documentary titled *The Path to a Shipping Power: A 20th Anniversary Review of China Maritime Day* will be screened, summarizing China’s shipping development achievements and experiences. The event will also include multiple announcements: the 2024 China Shipping Development Report, the 2025 list of safety and integrity shipping companies and vessels, the 2025 national model workers and advanced workers in the maritime sector, the 2024 China Institute of Navigation Science and Technology Progress and Invention Awards, and the initiative “Leading the New Trend of Green, Low-Carbon, and Smart Shipping Development.” This year’s Maritime Day Forum will feature five sub-forums and five parallel forums, expanding its coverage to include new topics such as ship finance and insurance, the safe development of the yacht industry, and young talent in maritime technology.
Hosting think tank discussions to strategize industry development. On the afternoon of July 11, a seminar on developing new productive forces in shipping will be held, inviting experts from the “Old Transportation Think Tank” and representatives from port and shipping enterprises to discuss pathways for technological innovation to drive high-quality shipping development. Experts will deliver speeches and exchange ideas on topics such as advancing high-quality inland waterway shipping, accelerating the construction of world-class ports, leveraging technology for high-quality maritime development, innovations and applications in intelligent navigation, as well as maritime education, international maritime arbitration system reforms, and the practices of the Hainan Free Trade Port.
Creating a platform for frontline professionals. This year, the “Port Craftsmen Innovation Exchange Camp” will continue, bringing together industrial workers and innovation leaders from the port sector to discuss cross-regional, cross-industry, and cross-enterprise topics like technological trends and worker participation in industry governance. Additionally, a “Captains and Engineers Salon” will be held to share experiences and suggestions on “Building a High-Quality Maritime Talent Team for a New Future in Shipping.”
Showcasing Hainan’s unique features. As 2025 marks the year of Hainan Free Trade Port’s customs closure and expanded openness, related speeches and introductions will be featured in the main forum, port and shipping enterprise development forum, and the new productive forces seminar to highlight Hainan’s achievements and policies, fostering collective support for its development.
