On June 17, 2025, RINA (Italian Classification Society) awarded Korea Maritime Technology Co., Ltd. (KOMAC) an Approval in Principle (AIP) for a 40,000 cubic meter LNG-fueled (H2-ready) LCO2 carrier utilizing reformer technology.

This recognition will significantly strengthen the collaborative bond between RINA and KOMAC, effectively accelerating the practical application of innovative technologies and driving technological advancements in the maritime sector.

In particular, we firmly believe that this advanced vessel solution—combining the low-carbon benefits of LNG fuel, the forward-looking compatibility of “H2-ready,” and high-efficiency reformer technology—provides shipowners with a practical and efficient pathway to achieve IMO 2050 emissions reduction goals.

RINA Korea looks forward to deepening its collaboration with KOMAC. Moving forward, the two parties will work hand in hand to advance technological innovation, leverage their respective strengths, and contribute to building a more sustainable maritime industry.
