On July 11, China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) Dalian Shipbuilding Industry’s Tianjin branch achieved another milestone in production. In a single day, they accomplished three major production milestones: the undocking of the 115,000-ton product tanker P110K-84 and the LNG dual-fuel 16,000 TEU container ship C16K-15, as well as the semi-floating of the methanol dual-fuel 15,000 TEU container ship C16K-17. This marked the first time the No. 1 dock production line achieved synchronized operations for three vessels simultaneously.

The P110K-84 is the first vessel in the 115,000-ton product tanker project built by DSIC Tianjin for Greece’s Cape Shipping. During construction, DSIC Tianjin continuously optimized production processes, employing automated welding and digital simulation technologies to ensure “construction meets standards.” Faced with technical challenges, the company collaborated with expert teams and the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) to develop the “optimal solution” by rigorously applying international classification standards, identifying root causes, and implementing targeted measures to ensure vessel safety and high-quality construction. This effort contributes significantly to the high-quality delivery of new ships and the advancement of shipping equipment.

The C16K-15 completed its dock construction and was launched. Since its keel-laying on December 19, 2024, the dock construction period was 204 days—34 days shorter than the first vessel. During construction, DSIC Tianjin independently used a 3D adjustment instrument for the first time to precisely align the LNG fuel tank, eliminating reliance on external support. Key milestones were met ahead of schedule, including emergency generator inspections. The funnel assembly was completed 45 days early, with the superstructure piping system inspection achieving 100% completion, cargo holds at 93.9%, and the monorail crane in the engine room ready for inspection. The overall launch completeness score was 94.1, with airtightness tests and generator engine runs progressing smoothly to prepare for subsequent commissioning.

To ensure the successful undocking of both vessels, DSIC Tianjin established a delivery assurance team to tackle critical challenges through enhanced coordination and process optimization. Additionally, the Party-Mass Work Department launched a “Party Flag Leads the Way, Decisive Breakthrough” competition, offering incentives, stage-based evaluations, and recognition of exemplary performers to motivate all personnel and foster a competitive, high-performance environment, providing strong ideological and organizational support for the delivery campaign.

The methanol dual-fuel container ship C16K-17 achieved its semi-floating milestone 10 days ahead of schedule. This phase involved 46 block assemblies and 160 segments. Despite tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and adverse weather conditions, the team maximized resources, strictly controlled welding quality, and ensured structural integrity. DSIC Tianjin also prepared contingency plans and conducted specialized inspections of critical components to guarantee stability during the semi-floating process. This success lays a solid foundation for subsequent launching, block integration, and sea trials.

The simultaneous achievement of these three milestones marks DSIC Tianjin’s first synchronized three-vessel operation in the No. 1 dock production line, showcasing its breakthroughs in modern shipbuilding practices, lean management, and rhythm production. Moving forward, DSIC Tianjin will continue benchmarking against global industry leaders, addressing weaknesses, and ensuring timely vessel deliveries to further contribute to Dalian Shipbuilding’s high-quality development.
