On July 18, the Chengxi Shipyard under China State Shipbuilding Corporation delivered the sixth 50,000-deadweight-ton MR-type oil tanker “CAPE BILBAO” to SCHOELLER company 105 days ahead of schedule. This marks the successful completion of the construction of the first ship in the “Hongyun” series, which is the first batch of 50,000-ton-class oil tankers independently contracted by the shipyard.

This 60,000-deadweight-ton MR oil tanker is one of the main ship types independently developed by Chengxi Shipyard. It features excellent performance, strong cargo adaptability, and high flexibility, with a liquid cargo tank capacity of 53,500 cubic meters. The ship has an overall length of 182.70 meters, a molded breadth of 32.20 meters, a service speed of 14.5 knots, and is classed by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).

The cargo tank project was the core task during the ship’s mooring stage. In response to the shipowner’s high standards for tank tightness, Chengxi Shipyard efficiently and with high quality completed tightness tests for 14 cargo tanks within one week, and quickly finished special coating of the cargo tanks, installation, and commissioning of tank attachments and equipment. The ship proceeded to sea trials in a state of high completeness, and its construction quality has earned high recognition from the shipowner.
