Recently, the first phase of the Yueyang Rail-Water Coal Storage and Transportation Project’s reserve base in Hunan Province reached a key milestone: the successful completion of a heavy-load test run for the No. 2 linear warehouse coal storage and transportation system. This marks the official operational readiness of the first phase for coal storage and transportation.

The Yueyang Rail-Water Coal Storage and Transportation Project is a key provincial construction project in Hunan and a national strategic coal reserve initiative. It consists of three components: port engineering, reserve base engineering, and a dedicated railway line. Leveraging the Haolebaoji-Ji’an Railway and “sea-to-river” resource advantages, the project will provide integrated services including coal trade, railway transport, and port operations. It aims to establish a national-level coal transfer hub for north-to-south coal transportation, serving as a “stabilizer” to ensure coal supply security in Hunan.

The reserve base project has a total investment of approximately 2.924 billion yuan, with plans to construct five linear warehouses boasting a static coal storage capacity of 2 million tons and an annual throughput of 22 million tons. The first phase, with an investment of 1.572 billion yuan, includes the construction of two linear warehouses with a static storage capacity of 800,000 tons.
