On July 22, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) announced the consolidation of its ship management operations under a single brand to streamline operations and enhance safe operations across all vessel types.
Specifically, MOL revealed that its Singapore-based MOL LNG Ship Management will be renamed MOL Global Ship Management (MOLGSM). This move marks the beginning of an internal integration process, where MOL will merge its previously vessel-type-specific ship management functions into a unified organizational structure. MOLGSM will oversee more than 200 vessels, including LNG carriers, bulk carriers, and tankers.
MOL stated, “By integrating internal ship management companies previously divided by vessel type, MOLGSM will be able to share best practices across different ship categories and strengthen its ability to adopt new technologies such as environmentally friendly ship management.”
MOL noted that the consolidation will further accelerate progress toward its “Safety Leadership” goal. This initiative will help optimize group-wide operations and enhance overall competitiveness. Additionally, efficiency will be improved through the integration of IT systems, standardized operations, and cross-functional employee deployment.
