Search for survivors suspended

Two security firms, which had been searching for survivors from the cargo ship Eternity C for several days after it was sunk by Houthi rebels in the Red Sea last week, chose to suspend the search for 10 missing sailors on Sunday evening.

Four crew members were killed in the attack, while 21 surviving crew members and armed guards fled the ship after the firefight. Of these, 10 were later rescued by security firms and passing ships—several after spending more than 48 hours in the water.

Another crew member is believed to have perished, while 6 are allegedly being held hostage by Houthi forces. The fate of the last four crew members remains unknown, and the search for them has now been called off.

The Houthis attacked Eternity C because it allegedly has ties to Israel—despite being Greek-owned and registered in Liberia.

Israel has urged the U.S. to resume its airstrikes against Houthi targets in Yemen in response to the sinking of Eternity C and the possible kidnapping of six crew members.
