The port of Castellón has closed the first half of the year with increases in all types of cargo traffic. These results contrast with those of the Spanish port system, which is experiencing a widespread decline. In total, PortCastelló has handled 5.9% more cargo than in the same period the previous year. The data reflects strong performance across all traffic segments. The movement of containers stands out particularly, having increased by 32.8% compared to the first half of 2024. This growth reflects the growing confidence of shipping companies in operating from the port of Castellón.

In solid bulk, PortCastelló grew by 4.3%, in liquids by 8%, and in general cargo, the increase reached 14.6%. “The effort we are making to open new markets and engage with key countries for our port community is bearing fruit,” stated the president of the Port Authority, Rubén Ibáñez, who added that “this work, along with the involvement of the port community and the commitment to diversification, is what lies behind these positive results,” assured the president of PortCastelló.
