“Your article published in recent days reflects the operation currently underway,” explains Prestopino, referring to the news of the departure from Genoa’s harbor under the tow of the tugboat Sea Dream. “The ship will arrive in Split, at the Brodosplit shipyard, on Monday the 28th, where work will be carried out to remove panels containing asbestos, located in the passenger cabins. Once the work is completed, the ship will be transferred to Piraeus, where the cabins subject to remediation will be restored, followed by the necessary work for class renewal.”

When asked about the future fate of the Moby Drea, its new owner responds by saying: “For future employment, we must wait at least until its arrival at the Piraeus shipyard. We have several options; it is still too early to give an answer.” Regarding the ship’s next name, Prestipino informs that “the Ministry of Transport has confirmed the availability of Drea as the next name.”

Built in 1975 in Germany (Flenderwerke shipyard), the Moby Drea is approximately 183 meters long, 24 meters wide, with a speed of 26 knots, a passenger capacity of around 1,700, and nearly 1,000 linear meters of garage space.
