Must read

UK shipowner Carisbrooke Shipping has placed an order for 3+3 6,600 deadweight ton general cargo ships at Jiangsu Dajin Heavy Industry, with deliveries expected to commence in the second half of 2027. The ship price has not been disclosed.

These new vessels will further expand Carisbrooke Shipping’s existing fleet. It is understood that the company currently operates nearly 30 dry bulk carriers and multi-purpose vessels. In September 2023, it ordered one 7,280 deadweight ton Labrax-type dry cargo ship at Dutch shipyard Thecla Bodewes, and last year, it ordered two 7,700 deadweight ton general cargo ships. All three new ships are scheduled for delivery in 2026.

Carisbrooke Shipping’s order is the third construction contract recently secured by Dajin Heavy Industry. Last week, Dajin Heavy Industry successively received orders for 12 new ships of two types, including a turnkey contract for 6 65-meter Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessels (AHTS) and a construction contract for 6 7,350 deadweight ton multi-purpose general cargo ships.

Dajin Heavy Industry was established in 2012 and is located in Yangzhong City, Jiangsu Province, approximately 180 kilometers from the Yangtze River estuary. It has an 800-meter-long shoreline and facilities including a 30,000-ton semi-dock shipbuilding platform and a 15,000-ton indoor shipbuilding platform. Dajin Heavy Industry has successfully completed over 200 Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects for various types of ships and offshore engineering. It has established four main product lines: offshore platforms and offshore support vessels, official vessels and naval auxiliary ships, special transport vessels, and LNG-powered vessels.

Including the latest orders, data from Clarksons shows that Jiangsu Dajin Heavy Industry currently has a total orderbook of 85 ships amounting to 930,000 deadweight tons. This includes 54 general cargo ships, 11 container ships, 12 bulk carriers, 6 Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessels (AHTS), and 2 other vessel types, with deliveries scheduled through 2028.
