NANNING, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) — Guangxi’s first litigation-arbitration-mediation linkage workstation for maritime and commercial disputes was inaugurated in Nanning on Tuesday. The workstation will provide fair, efficient, and convenient maritime and commercial legal services for Chinese and foreign parties, helping Guangxi build itself into a preferred destination for resolving commercial disputes involving ASEAN.
Established by the Beihai Maritime Court within the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Guangxi Committee, the workstation aims to promote innovation in the diversified dispute resolution mechanism for maritime justice and maritime arbitration, establish effective connections between litigation and non-litigation resolution methods for maritime and commercial disputes, and collaborate in areas such as the joint resolution of maritime and commercial disputes, collaborative research on legal issues, and joint legal publicity efforts, collectively building a “one-stop” diversified dispute resolution platform for litigation, arbitration, and mediation.
As a frontline window facing ASEAN, Guangxi is actively advancing institutional openness, with continuous growth in foreign-related civil and commercial activities. Faced with the diverse legal systems of ASEAN countries, Guangxi is focusing on building a foreign-related commercial dispute resolution mechanism.
Guangxi has established a litigation-arbitration-mediation linkage mechanism, set up the first litigation-arbitration-mediation linkage center within China’s CCPIT system, and established workstations at China-Vietnam border ports, creating a multi-level dispute resolution network.
Meanwhile, Guangxi has released the “Group Standard for Professional Competency Requirements of Guangxi Commercial Mediators” and collaborated with multiple institutions to build a talent cultivation mechanism for foreign-related legal professionals, accelerating the training of specialized personnel.
In addition, Guangxi has successfully mediated several major commercial dispute cases, including a commercial mediation case involving an amount of 42.24 million yuan (RMB, same below) and a court-referred 390 million yuan financing guarantee contract dispute case.
Currently, Guangxi has signed multiple cooperation agreements with ASEAN countries, promoting the establishment of several foreign-related legal service institutions. By the end of the “14th Five-Year Plan” period, the CCPIT system in Guangxi had handled 138,697 cases, with a total dispute value of 10.49 billion yuan, ranking among the top in China’s CCPIT system in terms of case handling scale.
