Saab has agreed to divest its TransponderTech subsidiary to FLIR Systems, a Swedish unit of Teledyne Technologies.

The transaction is subject to conditions expected to be fulfilled by the end of Q4 2025.

Based in Linköping, Sweden, TransponderTech develops SOLAS-certified communications and navigation systems, including Automatic Identification System (AIS), VHF Data Exchange System (VDES) and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technologies.

“Integrating TransponderTech’s advanced AIS, VDES and GNSS technologies into our commercial maritime products strengthens our ability to deliver secure, reliable and globally connected navigation solutions,” said Grégoire Outters, Vice President and General Manager of Teledyne FLIR Maritime and Raymarine.

“This acquisition will directly enhance our safety, efficiency, and operational reach of our customers at sea.”

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. Saab and Teledyne FLIR have previously collaborated in surveillance and sensor systems, with FLIR supplying thermal imaging technologies for Saab platforms.
