US President Donald Trump, in his phone calls with European leaders, stated that Europe should stop purchasing Russian oil. It was also noted that the American president called for increasing pressure on China due to its “support for Russia’s war activities in Ukraine.”
According to the White House official, Donald Trump specifically emphasized during the call that the European Union’s purchases of Russian oil “earn Russia 1.1 billion euros a year.”
Stating that Europe should stop buying Russian oil which finances the war, Trump said that European leaders should also apply economic pressure on China for financing Russia’s war efforts.
