Adolfo Herrero Alonso, esteemed broker and maritime agent active in the project cargo and heavy lift business as well as president of the company KestrelMare of Genoa, has passed away at the age of 48 due to a sudden illness that took him away in a few days. The company wished to remember him by describing him as “a man of great intelligence, balance, and with great human and professional resources.”
A graduate in Spain at the Universidad de Alcalá and trained first at the London South Bank University and then at the Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam, Adolfo Herrero was a very well-known name within naval brokerage for having worked at Nol Group, Kestrel Italia, Jsi Alliance and finally KestrelMare.
One year ago, together with Stefania Morasso, he was the protagonist of the operation that led to the union between Kestrel Italia and Intermare, giving rise to the maritime agency that took the name of KestrelMare, active in the sector of maritime transport of various goods and non-unitized cargo.
Last June, Adolfo Herrero had strongly wanted to organize and promote in Italy, in Milan, the Heavy Lift Seminar managed directly by KestrelMare as general agent of the Jumbo Sal Intermarine Alliance, which operates on the market with a fleet of approximately 70 specialized ships. Two days of seminars dedicated to the engineering, legal, operational, and commercial aspects of a niche business sector at the center of important technological evolutions.
It was in this very context that Herrero had contributed, with the birth of KestrelMare, to creating an operation aimed at consolidating a strong position in the Italian market made possible by the synergies between Kestrel and Intermare.
His passing leaves a significant void, both professional and human, not only within the company but also in the entire Italian sector of maritime agencies and brokerage.
Our most heartfelt condolences go out to the colleagues of KestrelMare and to the family of Adolfo Herrero from the editorial staff of SHIPPING ITALY.
