The Port Authority of Nea Michaniona was updated regarding a collision and sinking of a high-speed (H/S) vessel with five Greek nationals on board (2 men and 3 women), in the sea area of the “ALYKES” beach of Nea Michaniona.
Immediately, the local emergency plan was activated and one LS-EL.ACT patrol vessel (PL.S), one Sierra Leone-flagged cargo (C/G) ship, a private vessel, and an LS-EL.ACT patrol vehicle from land were dispatched to the location. The occupants of the H/S vessel exited under their own power by swimming to the shore and are in good health. No sea pollution was observed from the incident. A preliminary investigation is being conducted by the 1st Port Station of Nea Michaniona of the Central Port Authority of Thessaloniki.
