Colombia’s customs authority has agreed to recognise IQAX electronic Bills of Lading (eBL), currently issued by Chinese shipping company COSCO, to digitalise the arrival of import cargoes in the country.
The IQAX eBL can be verified through the Global Shipping Business Network (GSBN) Doc Viewer app. Customs officers can scan a QR code to confirm authenticity against records on GSBN’s blockchain infrastructure, reducing the need for manual checks and accelerating clearance times.
For shipping companies and cargo owners, the recognition of eBLs should reduce reliance on paper-based documentation and offer simplified cross-border import procedures.
IQAX said it will continue working with carriers, logistics providers and financial institutions to extend eBL adoption and create additional use cases across the region.
