MSC establishes direct connection from South America to the Middle East

Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) announced that it will introduce a direct service to the Middle East market from the east coast of South America. The service will begin in October 2025 and will have Abu Dhabi as a key transshipment hub.

“This new link is specially designed for refrigerated cargo destined for the main ports of the Persian Gulf,” communicated the shipping line with the largest cargo capacity worldwide.

“South American exporters and Middle East importers will benefit from faster transit times to Abu Dhabi and other key ports in the region, with deliveries in less than 33 days to Abu Dhabi, 38 days to Shuwaikh and 39 days to Hamad,” it added.

In line with the information provided by the company based in Geneva, Switzerland, the first departure will set sail from Itajai, Brazil, aboard the 330-meter-long, 48-meter-wide container ship MSC Shreya B, registered under the flag of Portugal (Madeira).

The service rotation will be Buenos Aires – Rio Grande – Itajai – Navegantes – Paranagua – Santos – Rio de Janeiro – Walvis Bay – Abu Dabi –Singapore – Qingdao – Busan – Ningbo – Shanghái –Shekou – Singapore – Colombo – Rio de Janeiro – Santos – Paranagua – Itapoa – Itajai – Buenos Aires.
