The Greek group Capital Ship Management (Capital SM Corp.) sold the container ship Manzanillo Express to Foroohari Schiffahrt – a non-operating ship owner in the process of expanding its fleet – for a total sum of USD 120 million, according to Alphaliner.

The vessel, built in 2022 and registered under the flag of the Marshall Islands, has a capacity of 13,312 TEU, a length of 335 meters, a beam of 51 meters, and 2,200 plugs for refrigerated containers.

The ship is currently chartered by Hapag-Lloyd under a contract valid until – at least – the year 2032, which would be respected despite the change of ownership.

The Manzanillo Express, built by the South Korean shipyard HD Hyundai Samho, is now the largest ship to join the fleet of Foroohari Schiffahrt, which consists of 22 vessels (17 container ships and 5 multipurpose units).

Previously, the German company’s flagship was the 16-year-old BF Hamburg, with a capacity of 6,494 TEU, registered under the Liberian flag, 293 meters in length, and 40 meters in beam.

Meanwhile, Capital Ship Management still retains in its inventory two sister ships of the Manzanillo Express, the Buenaventura Express and Itajai Express, both launched in 2023 and also on long-term charter with Hapag-Lloyd.
