The president of the Port Authority of Castellón, Rubén Ibáñez, participated, together with Ester Giner, deputy mayor of Grao, and the councilor of Tourism, Arantxa Miralles, in the reception ceremony for the captain of the Crystal Symphony, Nenad Willheim, to whom he presented a commemorative metope, in addition to presenting him with a piece of local craftsmanship to celebrate the first visit of the Crystal Cruises vessel to the terminal, consigned by Simón Montolío & Cía.

The cruise ship, 238 meters in length, called for 10 hours, to set course for its next destination, the Port of Barcelona, with nearly 500 American cruise passengers and 545 crew members.

The top representative of PortCastelló emphasized the “decided commitment that has existed from the first moment on the part of the Port Authority to attract cruise ships” and, in this sense, highlighted that “the growth in the number of port calls demonstrates that we are a port and a city prepared to host luxury cruise ships, that we are working in the right direction and that Castellón and our port are beginning to position themselves in the sector and consolidate themselves on the international cruise map.”

Likewise, Ibáñez thanked the coordination and involvement of the other administrations, both the City Council and the Provincial Council, through their respective Tourism Boards, to “continue enhancing the tourist offer of the province by designing tours and itineraries adapted to the needs of cruise passengers.”

Ester Giner, deputy mayor of Grao, stated that “we achieve great advances with Port-City collaboration. The arrival of cruise ships to the capital is one of them, contributing to positioning us on the map of reference destinations in the Mediterranean. We will continue to collaborate with the Port Authority to strengthen our commitment to revitalize Grao de Castellón, to boost its economy, and to make the city continue to look to the sea.”

Likewise, the councilor of Tourism, Arantxa Miralles, stated that “cruise tourism is a perfect opportunity for Castellón to show the world its main attractions. It is a quality, first-class tourism, with international visitors seeking cultural, gastronomic, and leisure experiences that can have an impact on local commerce. We are convinced that their visit to our city has contributed to reinforcing the image of Castellón as an attractive destination in the Mediterranean.”

The 11 confirmed port calls for this year between Castellón and Peñíscola reinforce the role of PortCastelló as a key driver for tourism and the local economy, strengthening its position as an attractive and sustainable destination in the Mediterranean.
