On September 23, the report by the World Bank, in collaboration with S&P Global Market Intelligence, was published regarding the world’s most efficient container ports for 2024.

The top port was revealed to be Yangshan in China for the third consecutive year, with Fuzhou following in second place. It is noteworthy that the ports of East Asia continue to dominate, according to the ranking, which compares 403 container ports globally. In fact, 15 of the top 20 positions belong to ports in East Asia.

Finally, several ports show notable improvements in their scores, with those of Senegal, India, Turkey, Egypt, and Ecuador making an impression.

The efficiency of the ports is expressed through the Container Port Performance Index (CPPI), which, as characteristically mentioned in the report, takes into account administrative and statistical approaches. The CPPI is designed to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement, which will benefit all involved parties, from liner shipping companies to national governments and consumers.
