MSC launches Middle East – South America service

Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) will introduce a direct service to the Middle East market from the east coast of South America.

The new service will begin in October 2025 and will have Abu Dhabi as its key transhipment hub.

“This new link is specially designed for refrigerated cargo bound for the main ports of the Persian Gulf,” said the shipping company.

“South American exporters and Middle Eastern importers will benefit from faster transit times to Abu Dhabi and other key ports in the region, with deliveries in less than 33 days to Abu Dhabi, 38 days to Shuwaikh and 39 days to Hamad,” it added.

The first departure will be from Itajai, Brazil, aboard the 330-metre-long, 48-metre-wide container ship MSC Shreya B, registered under the Portuguese flag (Madeira).

The service will rotate between Buenos Aires – Rio Grande – Itajai – Navegantes – Paranagua – Santos – Rio de Janeiro – Walvis Bay – Abu Dhabi – Singapore – Qingdao – Busan – Ningbo – Shanghai – Shekou – Singapore – Colombo – Rio de Janeiro – Santos – Paranagua – Itapoa – Itajai – Buenos Aires.
