In August 2025, the Transportation Cost Index (ICT) presented a monthly increase of 0.5%, accumulating 2.8% so far this year, according to information from the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
The monthly variation was mainly explained by the increase in the fuels group (2.7%), which contributed 0.632 percentage points to the monthly variation of the general ICT. This is a result of the increase in the product diesel (2.7%).
Meanwhile, vehicle maintenance and repair service recorded a monthly variation of 1.2%, with an incidence of 0.064 pp. Among the products that make up this group, the influence of vehicle maintenance service (1.1%) and truck alignment (1.5%) stood out, jointly contributing 0.044 pp.
Spare parts and accessories for the operation and maintenance of the vehicle recorded a monthly variation of 0.4%, with an incidence of 0.034 pp. Here, engine oil filter (3.4%), oil filter (2.8%) and oil (0.3%) stood out, contributing 0.034 pp.
Services related to transport circulation presented a zero monthly variation to one decimal place, with an incidence of 0.002 pp. In this group, the increase in the product circulation permit (0.2%) stood out, contributing 0.001 pp.
Financial services recorded a monthly variation of -1.4%, with an incidence of -0.085 pp. The result was a consequence of the decrease in the product credit (-8.1%), with a contribution of -0.062 pp.
Finally, human resources recorded a monthly variation of -0.4% or -0.191 pp. of incidence, which would be explained by the decrease in the product labor (-0.4%).
