Following the completion of the first ship in the COSCO SHIPPING Lines methanol dual-fuel retrofit project, the COSCO SHIPPING Libra, on the morning of September 26th, the steel cutting ceremony for the SEASPAN methanol dual-fuel retrofit project undertaken by Shanghai COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry commenced.
This project is the first methanol dual-fuel retrofit EPC turnkey project undertaken by Shanghai COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry for an external high-end shipowner. The project is highly technical and complex, involving a series of core tasks such as methanol dual-fuel retrofit design and drawing approval, MAN B&W main engine modification, methanol fuel system procurement and installation, and the addition of new fuel tanks. To ensure the efficient progress of the project, Shanghai COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry has established a精锐 project team, maintaining close communication with the shipowner, design institute, and major equipment suppliers. Preliminary technical design and material procurement have been steadily advancing according to the planned schedule.
The commencement of steel cutting for this project is a concentrated reflection of Shanghai COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry’s technical, production, procurement, and project management capabilities in executing methanol dual-fuel retrofit projects under the “turnkey” model. It fully demonstrates the international market’s high recognition and affirmation of Shanghai COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry’s “one-stop” solution capabilities in the field of methanol dual-fuel retrofits.
