Vietnam, $1.8 billion investment for the port of Lien Chieu

Lien Chieu The government of Vietnam has approved the investment for the Lien Chieu container port, a deep-water infrastructure located in the Hai Van district and designed to accommodate ships of up to 18,000 teu: a 2,750-meter-long wharf is planned, with eight berths. The total estimated investment is 45,268 billion Vietnamese dong (approximately 1.76 billion dollars), with a construction schedule from the fourth quarter of 2025 to the first quarter of 2036. At full capacity, the port will be able to handle up to 5.7 million teu per year, equivalent to approximately 74 million tonnes. By 2030, an intermediate traffic volume of between 14.25 and 36.3 million tonnes is expected. The port’s operating concession will last for 50 years from the date of assignment of the land and sea areas. The infrastructure will occupy a total of 172.6 hectares, of which 147 hectares are land and 25.7 hectares are water surface.
